Visitor studies and last but not least summative evaluations are becoming more and more important.
The reason: shortage of funds and investors who increasingly want to know more about where an interpretive site positions itself in terms of its mission.
Modern instruments such as quality management and also evaluation (here: visitor studies) are increasingly applied.
Basically the goal of evaluation should be to continually sustain and improve the interpretive site’s work. Data evaluation should preferably be process-oriented in order to reflect better each site´s characteristics.
